Kathy Grant, RN, MSN, AOCN, APN presented a continuing education seminar for a group of NMADE members at Biaggi’s Restaurant in Ridgeland, MS. The arrangements were made by Sonya Ryals of Elite Events, LLC based on a request made to the Meniscus Educational Institute to bring a program to Jackson, MS. Kathy flew in from Nashville. The program “EGFR Inhibitors: Beyond the First Decade” was supported by an educational grant from ImClone Systems Incorporated. We learned about differentiating among EGFR inhibitor agents with regard to targets, indications, and side effects; EGFR testing and molecular markers; current aguidleines for the management of rash associated with EGFR inhibitors alone and in combination with radiation therapy; how to develop a plan of care for patients experiencing toxicities associated with the use of EGFR inhibitors; and how ot formulate an education plan for patients receiving EGFR inhibitors. Attendees particpated in a lively discussion following the presentation and nurses will be awarded 1.0 contact hours for successfully completing the CE activity.
